Former Detroit Mayor Kwame M. Kilpatrick, of Southlake, Texas, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Detroit with 10 counts of mail fraud, three counts of wire fraud, five counts of filing a false tax return, and one count of tax evasion.



Louisiana Police Captain, Security Company Owner Charged in Kickback Scheme

Michael Roussel, of New Orleans, Louisiana and a captain with the New Orleans Police Department, and Joseph Branch, of Brownsboro, Texas and owner of Gladius, Inc., were charged with being involved in a wire fraud scheme to pay and to receive kickbacks under a contract to provide armed security guards following a hurricane.



Connecticut Drug Trafficker Sentenced to 19 Years in Prison

Two New York Men Sentenced for Child Pornography Offenses

John Puglisi, of Endicott, New York and a former Newark Valley High School teacher, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for production and attempted production of child pornography; persuading, inducing, and enticing a minor to engage in sexual conduct; and possession of child pornography. In a separate case, Larry T. Crosley, of Vestal, New York, was sentenced to seven years in prison for receiving child pornography via the Internet.

Glenn DDS, of McAllen, Texas, were indicted for allegedly illegally referring Medicaid beneficiaries to Gary Morgan Schwarz DDS in exchange for remuneration.



New York Man Sentenced for Virginia Heroin Conspiracy

Marc Derek Johnson, of Brooklyn, New York, was sentenced in Newport News, Virginia to 23 years in prison for his participation as the heroin supplier to a drug trafficking organization that distributed heroin throughout the Virginia Peninsula.



Convicted Sex Offender Sentenced in Washington for Receiving Child Pornography

Robert Francis Pierce, of Kirkland, Washington, was sentenced in Seattle to 15 years in prison and 15 years of supervised release for receipt of child pornography. Pierce has prior convictions in Snohomish County for rape of a child in the first degree and child molestation in the first degree.



Missouri Restaurant Owner Indicted for Arson, Mail Fraud Conspiracy
