Brian S. Butler, of McAllen, Texas, a former University of Texas-Pan American Professor, was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison without parole for receiving child pornography. FBI agents found more than 6,000 still images and more than 200 video clips depicting adults engaged in various sexual acts with children ranging in age from 7 to 10 years old, with several images involving children less than 5 years of age, on Butler's computer.

Dema Daiga, of College Park, Maryland, and Olu Campbell, formerly known as Oluseun Oshosanya, of Laurel, Maryland, were convicted of numerous counts of wire fraud arising from a scheme to defraud a mortgage lending company in connection with six Baltimore properties. Daiga was also convicted of two counts of aggravated identity theft in connection with the scheme.

A federal grand jury returned an 11-count federal indictment charging three current and two former New Orleans Police Department officers in connection with the September 2, 2005, shooting and killing of New Orleans resident Henry Glover, the subsequent burning of his body in a car, the assault of civilians who tried to help Glover, and various offenses related to a cover-up of the incident.
