Founding Member of Abu Sayyaf Pleads Guilty to 1995 Hostage Taking

Madhatta Haipe, a citizen of the Philippines and founding member of Al-Harakat Al-Islamiyyah, also known as the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG), pleaded guilty to four counts of hostage taking in connection with the 1995 abduction of 16 people, including four U.S. citizens, in the Philippines.



Former St. Louis Area Police Officer Pleads Guilty to Civil Rights Violations

Leon Pullen, 32, of Foley, Missouri, pleaded guilty to civil rights violations stemming from several incidents where he sexually assaulted and stole money from women. Pullen was a police officer employed by the Uplands Park Police Department in suburban St. Louis.



Former Carpenters Union Leader Pleads Guilty in N.Y. to Racketeering

Three Charged With Participating in Mortgage Fraud Conspiracy

A federal grand jury sitting in New Haven has returned an 11-count indictment charging Steven J. Kottage, 44, and Genaro R. Hathaway, 46, both of Weston, and Mary Ellen Durso, 53, of Milford, with conspiracy and other offenses stemming from the defendants alleged involvement in mortgage fraud.

A Pittsburgh woman was arrested in connection with a scheme to defraud commercial advertisers and exhibitors out of fees for fake bridal conventions and magazines advertised in Boston and other cities across the country.



Ft. Thomas Man Sentenced to Eight Years for Murder-for-Hire

Brian Curtis Huff, 50, of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky was sentenced to eight years in prison for use of an interstate commerce facility in the commission of a murder-for-hire, and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.



Pint-Sized Robber Strikes El Paso Bank

The subject stuffed the money into his pants pocket then left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. The man was last seen running from the southeast corner of the bank. This is the city’s thirteenth bank robbery of the year.



Former Bennington Bank Manager Sentenced to Jail

Chittenden Bank branch manager Kevin Thivierge was sentenced to four months in jail and three years of supervised release in connection with his guilty plea to misapplication of bank funds.

Canton Resident Charged with Embezzling Money From Credit Union

Dawn Pappas, 44, of Canton, Ohio, was charged in a one-count indictment with embezzling monies from the CSE Federal Credit Union of Canton.



Serial Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested in St. Louis

Cornell Hill was arrested at a hotel in North St. Louis. Hill is suspected of recently robbing three local financial institutions. The FBI received a tip which identified Hill from the excellent quality of the surveillance photos.



Hamden Woman Who Made False Claims to Medicare and Medicaid Is Sentenced

Stacey Lee Williams, 38, of Hamden, was sentenced in New Haven to three years of probation, the first six months of which she must serve in home confinement, for submitting false claims to Medicare and Medicaid.
