Ship Management Firm Sentenced for Violating Federal Pollution Law

Cooperative Success Maritime S.A., the operator of the M/T Chem Faros, a 21,145 gross-ton ocean-going cargo ship that regularly transported cargo between foreign ports and the United States, pled guilty and was sentenced today in federal court for violating the Act to Prevent Pollution from Ships, and for making material false statements.



Former Ohio Fire Inspector Charged with Bribery

Former City of Cleveland Fire Inspector Terrance A. Chambers, of Aurora, Ohio, was charged with one count of bribery for allegedly extorting $2,000 in bribes from an unnamed Cleveland business, which was cooperating with the FBI, in exchange for the performance of his official duties as a City of Cleveland Fire Inspector.



80-Year-Old Missouri Man Pleads Guilty to Bank Robbery

Augusta Cannon, of Kansas City, Missouri, pled guilty to the December 22, 2009 robbery of a UMB Bank branch in Kansas City.



Illinois Man Sentenced on Child Pornography Charges

Georgia Man Pleads Guilty to Robbing 23 Banks in Southeastern U.S.

Cecil Stephen Haire, of Douglas, Georgia, dubbed the "Limping Bandit" by investigators, pled guilty in Charleston, South Carolina to 23 counts of bank robbery. Beginning in June 2006, Haire traveled across the Southeast committing robberies in Georgia Florida, Alabama, and South Carolina.

Mongelli, of New Hyde Park, New York, the former operations manager of a transfer and recycling station in Plainfield, New Jersey, was sentenced to five months in prison and five months of home confinement for violating the Travel Act in connection with a commercial bribery scheme which yielded him more than $30,000 in cash bribe payments.



Father and Son Charged in Michigan with Sending Threatening Letter to Congressman

FBI Conducts Joint Investigation into Assault of Border Patrol Agent in Texas

An investigation has been opened regarding the assault of a Border Patrol agent in Texas while he was responding to a group of suspected illegal aliens being smuggled into the U.S. from Mexico. Several subjects threw rocks at the agent, and when they continued to do so despite the agent's verbal commands to stop, the agent fired his service weapon, striking one subject who later died.



Maryland Man Sentenced in Scheme to Defraud Companies of Over $1 Million
