A federal jury today convicted City of Chicago building inspector Jose Hernandez, f federal bribery charges for accepting two $1,000 cash bribes from a cooperating contractor and demanding two $2,000 cash bribes from developers to approve inspections at residential and commercial construction sites.



Arizona Man Pleads Guilty to Assaulting a Police Officer

Larry Shonnie Ben, Jr., of Kayenta, Arizona, pled guilty in connection with running over a police officer's foot and deliberately colliding with a police car after he was pulled over for drunk driving.



Illinois Man Charged with Making Bomb Threats, Threatening the President

Roman Otto Conaway, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, was charged with one count of making false threats to detonate an explosive device; and one count of making a threat against the president of the United States.

Pennsylvania Pharmacist Indicted for Illegally Distributing Prescription Drugs

Stephen L. Marks, of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, who operated and managed a pharmacy located in Harrisburg, was charged with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, distribution of misbranded drugs, making false statements to federal agents, and money laundering.



California Man Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography Charges

Charles Johnson, of Garden Valley, California, pled guilty to receiving child pornography. Images of child pornography were found on Johnson's work laptop after he was terminated for allegedly stealing trade secrets.



Virginia Man Indicted for Hiring a Friend to Murder His Ex-Wife

Larry Lingenfelter, of Portsmouth, Virginia, was indicted on multiple counts relating to his scheme to murder his ex-wife in order to avoid paying child support and to obtain custody of his triplet daughters.



Georgia Man Pleads Guilty in $3.5 Million Investment Fraud Scheme

Minnesota Man Charged with Lying to Investigators Regarding Fraud Scheme

Rhode Island Man Indicted for Lasering Airborne Commercial Aircraft

Joseph Aquino, of Warwick, Rhode Island, was indicted on charges of willfully interfering with the safe operation of an airborne commercial aircraft and endangering the safety of the passengers and crew in connection with allegedly illuminating the cockpit of an incoming commercial flight on final approach to T.F. Green Airport with a laser light, momentarily blinding the pilot.



Man Sentenced to Life for Murder of UNC Student Body President

Demario James Atwater was sentenced to life plus 10 years in prison in connection with the March 5, 2008 carjacking, kidnapping, and murder of University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill President Eve Marie Carson.
