89 Law Enforcement Officers Indicted for Drug Crimes in Puerto Rico

Eighty-nine law enforcement officers and 44 others in Puerto Rico have been charged in 26 indictments unsealed today and returned by a grand jury in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Three Life Sentences for Brutal Murder in Gila River Indian Community

Eugene Joseph Escalanti, 34, of Tucson, Ariz., was found guilty by a federal jury on June 25, 2010 of First Degree Murder, Kidnapping and First Degree Murder/Felony Murder. He was sentenced on Monday by U.S. District Judge Susan R. Bolton to three concurrent life sentences in a federal prison.

An indictment was unsealed charging Allie Speight, Maurice Thomas, Jerome Manker, and Andre McCrea with various counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, bank fraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering, making false statements on loan applications, bribery of bank employees, and identity theft.
