New York Man Pleads Guilty in Securities Fraud Scheme

Noor Mohammed, of Deer Park, New York, pled guilty to his role in a "free-riding" securities fraud scheme in which he and others used checks to buy securities in brokerage accounts without having sufficient funds to pay for them. The scheme resulted in more than $600,000 in net trading losses to the brokerage firms who were victimized.



Serial Armed Robber Sentenced in Maryland to 28 Years in Prison

Quindell Ford, of Baltimore, Maryland, was sentenced to 28 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for robbery and brandishing a gun during a robbery in connection with seven armed robberies of gas stations and liquor stores.



Idaho Man Sentenced for Involuntary Manslaughter

Tyson Coby, of Fort Hall, Idaho, was sentenced to 32 months in federal prison for involuntary manslaughter. Coby caused the death of the driver and passenger of another vehicle after he crashed into them while intoxicated and fleeing police.



California Man Sentenced for Traveling to Oklahoma to Have Sex with 8-Year-Old Girl

Steven Lee Wintersteen, of Mammoth Lakes, California, was sentenced to serve 131 months in federal prison following his conviction for traveling from Reno, Nevada,to Oklahoma City for the purpose of having sex with a girl he believed to be 8 years old and for possession of child pornography.



Connecticut Man Sentenced for Armed Bank Robbery

Devon Patterson, of New Haven, Connecticut, was sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison for the armed robbery of a bank in Naugatuck, Connecticut.



Missouri Credit Union Manager Sentenced for Embezzling $400,000

Joyce Buchanan, of Claycomo, Missouri, was sentenced to two years in federal prison without parole for embezzling nearly $400,000 from the credit union where she was employed as a branch manager.



Army Space and Missile Defense Command Engineer Sentenced in Alabama for Accepting Bribes

Steven Earl Bryant, of Scottsboro, Alabama, was sentenced to 20 months in prison for accepting bribes when he worked as an engineer with the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command in Huntsville, and for evading payment of taxes on the bribery income.



Florida Man Sentenced on Money Laundering Charge

Roberto Settineri, of Miami Beach, Florida, was sentenced to 48 months in prison, to be followed by two years of supervised release, for conspiring with others to launder $10 million of funds and conceal assets represented to be the proceeds of a large-scale fraudulent scheme.



Maryland Man Sentenced for Sending Threatening E-Mail to Illinois Mosque

Maryland resident Ilya Sobolevskiy was sentenced to serve 12 months in prison and to pay a $3,000 fine for violating the civil rights of members of an Urbana, Illinois mosque.
